Tim Ryan’s campaign for U.S. Senate today announced its commitment to participate in three televised debates with JD Vance this fall:
- One hosted by WFMJ-TV, at Youngstown’s historic Stambaugh Auditorium, on September 26, 2022;
- One hosted by WLWT News 5, at Parrish Auditorium on Miami University’s Hamilton Campus, on October 4, 2022;
- And one hosted by the Ohio Debate Commission, at the Akron-Summit County Public Library, on October 12, 2022.
As Tim campaigns aggressively across Ohio to meet with voters face-to-face, JD Vance continues to face growing concern from his own party about his non-existent campaign — which Mitch McConnell is now attempting to bail out to the tune of $33 million — as well as about his alarming views that women should stay in “violent” marriages, and disturbing new findings about his sham opioid non-profit that brought a Purdue Pharma apologist to the Ohio communities hit hardest by the opioid epidemic.
“This election will steer the direction of Ohio for years, but because JD Vance has spent the last few months hiding from Ohio voters and campaigning basically everywhere except Ohio, voters haven’t had a chance to hear directly from him,” said Tim for Ohio campaign manager Dave Chase. “We welcome the opportunity for Ohioans to hear from both candidates about their priorities, and how they will work to address the biggest challenges facing Ohioans, like bringing down costs, rebuilding our industrial base, and — perhaps most critically given JD’s non-profit’s ties to a doctor who worked closely with Purdue Pharma to downplay the role of prescription painkillers in this deadly epidemic — their plan to address the opioid crisis. It’s well past time for JD Vance to venture out from his San Francisco mansion, pay Ohio a visit, and actually speak directly to the people he says he wants to represent. And once JD agrees to these three debates, Tim Ryan will debate JD any other time and place.”
