Tim Ryan Accepts Final Debate Schedule

After more than a month of delayed negotiations since Tim Ryan was the first candidate to commit to take part in three televised debates, the campaign is today announcing a final debate schedule:

  • One hosted by WLWT News 5, at Parrish Auditorium on Miami University’s Hamilton Campus, on October 4, 2022;
  • One hosted by Nexstar Broadcasting, at WJW-TV Fox 8 Studios in Cleveland, on October 10, 2022;
  • And one hosted by WFMJ-TV at Youngstown’s historic Stambaugh Auditorium, on October 17, 2022.

More than 80 percent of Ohioans want to see their U.S. Senate candidates debate, but in the weeks after Tim first accepted three debates, JD Vance instead chose to ghost reputable news organizations, manufacture scheduling conflicts, and get into fights with the same debate hosts whose fairness he praised when he took part in their spring primary debate.

“While Tim had hoped that debate season would begin today, JD Vance’s attempts to prolong and avoid this process entirely made that impossible,” said Tim for Ohio campaign manager Dave Chase. “San Francisco fraud JD Vance’s efforts to avoid debates are just more proof of how ‘out of place’ he feels here in Ohio, but as hard as he tries to avoid talking to Ohioans, Vance will never be able to escape the questions dogging his campaign about why he recruited a Big Pharma mouthpiece to be the face of his opioid nonprofit, invested in companies that profited from outsourcing and globalization, and thinks women should be forced to have their rapist’s baby — and Tim can’t wait to hold him accountable for all of it on the debate stage.”
