Pro-Choice Ohio Executive Director Kellie Copeland: “Ohioans can trust Tim to be a champion for abortion access and reproductive rights for all Ohioans…”
Pro-Choice Ohio yesterday announced their endorsement of Tim Ryan for U.S. Senate in Ohio. Yesterday’s endorsement comes as JD Vance prepares to hit the campaign trail with Lindsay Graham, who authored a new bill that would capitalize on the reversal of Roe v. Wade and enact a 15-week abortion ban across the country, underscoring the importance of maintaining and expanding the Senate’s pro-choice majority.
“It is more important than ever that we have a proudly and unapologetically pro-choice majority in the U.S. Senate, which is why we are excited to endorse Tim Ryan,” said Pro-Choice Ohio Executive Director Kellie Copeland. “Ohioans can trust Tim to be a champion for abortion access and reproductive rights for all Ohioans — a clear contrast with JD Vance, an outspoken abortion opponent whose anti-choice and anti-woman views would only further endanger Ohioans when so many of our rights and bodily autonomy hang in the balance.”
Tim, who has also earned the endorsements of NARAL Pro-Choice America and Planned Parenthood Action Fund, has received a score of 100% on Planned Parenthood’s congressional scorecard for his steadfast commitment to standing up for reproductive health.
“At a moment when the right to a safe, legal abortion is in jeopardy for millions of Ohioans, I’m honored to have the support of Pro-Choice Ohio,” said Tim Ryan. “Politicians should never come between a woman and her doctor making health care decisions, which is why as a member of Congress, I voted to protect reproductive freedom through the Women’s Health Protection Act, only to see it die in the Senate. JD Vance has applauded extreme abortion bans, called rape ‘inconvenient,’ and compared abortion to slavery. It could not be more important that we expand our pro-choice majority in Congress, and I’m looking forward to working with Pro-Choice Ohio to protect Ohio women’s privacy and fundamental freedoms.”
JD Vance has received widespread pushback for his extreme views on women, including saying women should stay in violent marriages, vocally endorsing a federal abortion ban, and calling rape “inconvenient” as justification for denying abortion care to victims of sexual assault and incest.
Tim is a proud cosponsor and has repeatedly voted to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would protect reproductive freedom and support reproductive health. Tim is also a co-sponsor of the My Body, My Data Act to protect women’s data privacy. He has also voted for legislation that would protect access to abortions across state lines and protect the right to birth control, and he has voted against defunding Planned Parenthood and other important health care providers.
